our vision

Health is considered to be a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. It is a major segment of human capital. If the quality of human resource is not good, then physical capital and natural resources cannot be properly utilized and growth neither be sustained nor be qualitative.

Health is multi-dimensional phenomenon. The relationship between health and development is mutually reinforcing, while health contributes to economic development; economic development, in turn, tends to improve the health status of the population in a country.

India is the second largest country in terms of population in the world but health status of a great majority of the people is far from satisfactory as compared to other developed countries. India is one of the major countries where communicable diseases are still not fully under control and the disease like malaria still take a high toll. Chronic non-communicable diseases such as heart diseases, diabetes and cancer are also in the rise. The disease, leprosy is also of serious concern owing to its socio economic impact on the society.

The Institute of Health Studies and Rehabilitation under the umbrella of Society for Welfare of the Handicapped persons is such a Research and Development organization which has been striving with a vision since its inception to provide low cost health care facilities to the underprivileged people. We believe such improvement in health, particularly of the poor, “vicious circle” of poverty can be converted into “virtuous circle” of prosperity
